Tax and trade compliance departments are regularly juggling competing priorities relating to transfer price adjustments. To help benchmark the current environment, KPMG conducted a survey that included over 110 companies representing a range of industries and sizes. The survey provides insight into how companies handle, manage, and react to transfer pricing adjustments from a tax and customs perspective.

Some high level findings include:

—   55 percent of companies made customs valuation adjustments after they made a transfer pricing adjustment.

—   20 percent of respondents reported that transfer pricing policies are coordinated to help reduce customs duty liability.

—   18 percent of respondents use automation to manage transfer pricing adjustments and customs valuation.

—   70 percent of respondents have a trade compliance group managing customs issues.
